Kingdom of Thailand

Thailand, or the so called Kingdom of Thailand, is located in the center of Southeast Asia and is an independent state. Thailand’s capital Bangkok is the center for politics, as well as for industry and culture of the kingdom and is home to more than 8 million people of the total of nearly 64 million inhabitants which live in the country. Of these 64 million approximately 2.2 million are illegal and legal immigrants.

With an area of about 513000 km² Thailand ranked 50th in the rank list of the world’s largest countries and with the population density which is mentioned above Thailand ranked number 21st of the most populated countries in the world.
Geographically, the country borders on Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia and in the west on the Andaman Sea.

Thailand ethnically consists of three main groups, 75% of the inhabitants are Thai, 14% Chinese, and about 3% Malay the remaining 8% of the population belong to other ethnic minorities. Despite the many different cultures, Thailand has only one main language, Thai.

The kingdom is one of the most devout countries with main religion Buddhism; whole 94.7% of all Thais are devout Buddhists. 4.5% of the rest are Muslims and only 0.7% of the population prefer  Christianity and other religions.

In Thailand, only small parts of the population are not trained in reading and writing, the land has many schools and the country builds on a strong education system. Especially private schools are educating many children because the state version of education may not always hold the high standard of education because of the lack of money.
The students attend a comprehensive school the first nine school years of their lives and even after the end of compulsory education schools are free until the 12th school year of the pupil.
